The Maldives. Paradise or a boring holiday?
While planning my trip to the Maldives, someone told me I would get bored in a week. The 5 reasons why he was totally wrong!
A friend of mine once told me: "What? 2 weeks in the Maldives? 'That’s way too long'! It's just palms, sand and crystal clear water, you will get bored!"
Of course, everyone is different and spending more than a week in the Maldivian Paradise might be boring for some so if your are not sure regarding the length of your future stay in the Maldives, below I put together a few points that might help you decide.
First of all, it’s true, the Maldives are palms, white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.
However, for a passionate traveler and adventurer, the Maldives can be so much more than that!
1. Lots and lots of Snorkeling and water activities
For those who 'don't go deep,' you can either choose to take your scuba diving certificates in the Maldives or you can get out your mask, fins and snorkel from your luggage (or rent them out) and get ready to explore this beautiful underwater world from the surface. Personally, during one of my many snorkeling sessions in the Maldives, I had the amazing opportunity to swim close to a friendly sea turtle and it was amazing! Looking back at the video I took, still gives me goose bumps, and I also had a tiny and colorful fish that followed me around the whole time. What can I say, sea life in the Maldives is definitely as friendly and as their human inhabitants!
On top of that you can rent, and sometimes even use free of charge, paddle boards, canoes, learn to windsurf or simply enjoy a banana boat ride, sliding through the waters in the lagoon.
2. Scuba Diving
As a scuba diver, the Maldives will never be boring for you. The coral reef of every island is amazing and diverse, a scuba diving center is always present and ready to fulfil all your needs.
3. Photography lovers
If you love photography, don't you dare leaving your professional camera at home. Every single corner has something beautiful to capture during every moment of the day, from sunrise to starry nights.
4. Islands visits
Who said that there is nothing to explore in the Maldives? Both Guesthouse and Resorts offer an infinite amount of island-hopping experiences that will allow you to discover local culture and lifestyle. A real traveler and explorer will definitely want to spend some days in a local Guesthouse to immerse themselves in the wonderful hospitality that this country has to offer. Moreover, Guesthouses will be the ideal solution for solo travelers on a budget.

5. Resort entertainments
Each resort organised parties and special events for their guests to experience local music and dance. Not to mention all other activities such as watching movies under the stars, special dinners on the beach with your loved ones, spa sessions and treatments, yoga classes, tennis and badminton and much much more. Most of these activities are also available in guesthouses too.
